Gaits
Balancing your Gaits
Your gaits are how your body works together for movement.
Your gaits are how your body works together for movement.
We have four gaits:
1. front, where we are taking a step forward and opposite arm and leg are forward.
2. back, where opposite arm and leg are in the back of the body
3. left and right, where opposite arm and leg are out to the sides of the body
4. diagonal, where opposite shoulder and hip come together
Warning: These points can be very tender, (which is a sign that they really need to be rubbed). So, if someone else is rubbing these points for you, tell them to go easy and to stop if you say stop.
Scroll down to see foot diagram.
The points are pictured up higher on the foot, but I like to start between the toes and gradually move up to the points pictured. That whole area can be tender and therefore needs attention. When you first start with this technique, it may be too sensitive so holding the points with intention, while also holding the bottom of the foot may be all you can do.
